If so, the Copper Country Intermediate School District seeks a dedicated Career and Technical Education (CTE) Automotive Technology Instructor in Hancock, Michigan to inspire and guide high school students on their journey into the world of automotive technology and service. We seek an energetic, collaborative educator to develop and deliver academic, technical, and hands-on instruction to students. You will provide instruction by facilitating student learning with industry specific tools and technology in a well-equipped automotive repair facility.
WHAT WE OFFER.
- $37,700 – $82,300 annual starting salary based on education and experience.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.
- Michigan Teaching Certificate with a CTE Endorsement in Automotive Technology, OR qualify for Annual Career Authorization (ACA) by having a minimum of 4,000 documented hours (2 years full-time) of recent and relevant experience within the Automobile Technician (ASE Certification) CIP code 47.0604 is required.
- Must hold and maintain the following ASE Certifications: G1 Automobile Maintenance and Light Repair Technician including certifications in A4 Suspension and Steering, A5 Brakes, and A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems.
- An ASE Master Mechanic certification is highly preferred in addition to the following ASE certifications: A1 Engine Repair, A2 Automatic Transmission, A3 Manual Drivetrain and Axles, A7 Heating and Air Conditioning, and A8 Engine Performance.
- Proficiency and experience with automotive diagnosis, maintenance, and repair is a must.
- Someone with the ability to provide instruction to students with a diversity of abilities and learning styles on the safe and proper use of tools and equipment used in the automotive profession.
- A calm, confident approach to teaching that embodies clear communication skills and ensures student learning by sustaining a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Someone with the ability to utilize modern office and teaching technology to develop and implement program specific curriculum including formative and summative assessments.
- While prior teaching experience is valued, it’s not the sole compass guiding our search. Above all, we’re on the hunt for individuals dedicated to ensuring that every student receives the instruction and support they need to thrive Your commitment to this endeavor speaks volumes.
- Someone able to work with an advisory committee primarily consisting of industry professionals to help evaluate and improve course content, and maintain program credibility and standards.
- Someone able to assess student progress on a regular basis and provide data with the goal of students earning industry credentials.
- Someone physically able to work in a variety of conditions and lift/carry up to 75 pounds with assistance.
